Life at Deloitte

Culture - Deloitte Singapore's Way of Life

At Deloitte, our shared values and ethical principles define the way we conduct business with our clients and interact with each other and the communities we work in. These shared values unite us and provide us with the foundation upon which we can build mutual respect and concern for one another. As a result, you will notice the prevailing sense of team spirit, camaraderie and open communication when you come in. You will find our people helpful and willing to lend a helping hand and a listening ear.

Our ethical principles are our values in action. They offer guidance on appropriate ethical and professional conduct with respect to integrity, objectivity, confidentiality, competence and fair business practices – fundamentals that are critical in our dealings with our clients, people and the community.

“Our warm and friendly culture allows us to show that we value our people as we motivate, promote and develop people based on merit. With our open door policy, we see junior staff interacting with partners at ease. For the large stream of graduates who come through our doors every year, this is a good training ground for them in terms of communicating with senior management.

At Deloitte, we also pride ourselves on the many success stories of individuals who have actualised their dreams, made possible by the special relationship which their counsellors have with them. Mine is such an example, when I took the bold step of relocating from Liverpool to Singapore. The counsel and encouragement given by my counsellor enabled me to remain focused on my goals and assisted me in overcoming the demands and challenges of the profession.”

Benefits

Excellent work comes from happy and satisfied people. At Deloitte, we not only work hard but also play hard! Here is a glimpse of the benefits offered by Deloitte Singapore:

Wellness

In addition to the usual offering of benefits (such as leave, medical and dental), we also encourage healthy living. We also provide recognition to those who have taken care of their health through our “Medical Incentive Award” programme.

Recreational Activities

Our recreational club organises numerous events to provide our people with the opportunity to have fun and relaxation:
• Parties at trendy night spots
• Family Days
• Movie Nights
• Participation in inter-organisation games

"Firstly, I would like to congratulate Deloitte for achieving the 11th consecutive champion in Inter-CPA table tennis game. I met the team once and am amazed by the high team spirit. Everyone comes for the training after a tiring day of work, which definitely needs a lot of motivation, determination and commitment. It’s not easy!

Of course, I believe the continuous success of this team would never be possible without great leadership. Just like in the battles, an army will never be unbeatable without the lead of great generals. Through my interaction with Ernest and Chee Ming, I have sensed their charisma. They are just like the two generals who have brought a fantastic army to conquer challenges and win victories year after year! Great work, Deloitte! Keep it up!”

Corporate Social Responsibility

We also emphasise on contributing to the community in which we live and work.

Annually, we organise an Impact Day where our members come together to do volunteer work for non-profit organisations, charities and initiatives. In the past, we have had fun participating in numerous activities such as blood donation drives, clearing the mangroves of Sungei Buloh, organising a Lunar New Year celebration and children’s party at Yong En Care Centre as well as redecorating parts of the Boys’ Town Home.

Most recently, we had the pleasure of hosting more than 100 underprivileged primary school children from four Family Service Centres located within the North East Community Development Council on an educational trip to the Marina Barrage.

Personal and Professional Growth

Recognising that talents give us the sustainable competitive advantage, Deloitte aims to provide the best opportunities for personal and professional growth of our talents.

For the Audit and Tax professionals, your work assignments and learning are very structured and deliberate. You work with different clients, and go through core training yearly. You have the opportunities to build a strong technical foundation in the early years of your career.

If you are in Financial Advisory Services and Enterprise Risk Services, you work on a variety of projects from various sectors. Every assignment allows you to learn simply because the projects are different and they call for creativity in generating the best possible solutions.

To further prepare our people for career progression, we assign every professional a Counsellor from day one. You will benefit from the quality conversations with the Counsellor and his/her guidance.

As you progress in your career, we periodically send our talents to a series of professional service, management and leadership excellence training programmes, where you also have the opportunities to network with professionals from other Deloitte firms.

Our portal, Deloitte Resources and e-Learning platform have a very rich offering of self-learning courses, best practices and articles on leadership, management and technical stuff. The rest is up to you.
